I should have clarified at the outset that this space is not about drugs. I don't do drugs and never have. Not for fun and not prescribed, except Glucontrol and Glycophlage for type 2 diabetes.

When I was locked up in the psycho ward for 2 weeks in 2004, I refused to take any of their pills. I was also lucky enough to make sure no one had power of attorney for me, so I never got any injections there. I don't think they spiked the food either, but I can't be sure about that.

"Inside" I met a 20-something guy I called Rabbit, a self-confessed crack dealer, who had been busted and dumped in the detox unit. We called him Rabbit because he almost escaped and made all the way out of the hospital and well into the parking lot before security caught him and hauled him back. I mention Rabbit because his mind was quick, which made me wonder whether it was genes or crack that gave him that edge. There’s a down-side in the blurrzone, that’s scary to me, and I don’t want to end up there.

Wading in the zone

This week I think I've been wading in the shallow end of the zone. Here's an example. On Facebook I'm a fan of The Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center. Monday morning I noticed they had posted some photos of a recent event, including some singers from the Mennonite Heritage Center in Harleysville. I tagged the names, and saw someone had posted a question asking how did they sound? I checked with the Schwenkfelders and found that it hadn't been recorded. The Mennonite song leader said that one of the songs was available on a CD available in their gift shop, but that I would have to get permission from the producer at Harmonies Workshop.
I got his permission, then put together a simple video on YouTube (posted by user thebudgross). When I when to view my posting on YouTube, I noticed a message on my channel from a guy I haven't seen since grad school at Purdue (1963). The weird thing about it is that one of his two videos was also based on a CD produced the same Harmonies Workshop. Merely happenstance ??
